Abstract

This study examined the strategic initiatives employed to promote girls’ interest in learning science subjects in Tanzanian secondary schools. A case study research design was employed to gain insight into the participants’ experiences. The data collected through interviews and focus group discussions were analysed, and themes and sub-themes emerged. It was found that educators used various strategies to motivate girls to learn science subjects, including. The study concludes that the availability of proper learning materials, study tours, guidance, and counselling may motivate girls to develop an interest in learning science subjects in ordinary secondary schools. For further study, the study recommends that a similar study be conducted with female pupils in primary schools in rural areas.
